Gathering on May 1, 2008

Bring your work from April's shoots, other work, problems, concerns, successes.

We are beginning the preparations for an alternative process demonstration. We hope to have an exposure device at VisArts Center available for our use for the June meeting and will likely use the cyanotype process. Keep the color blue in mind as you shoot.

Shows and calls for entries have been added to the site. Send new additions to Carole as you learn of them.

Again bring your calendars to the May meeting for scheduling shoots during May. Following Kennilworth Aquatic Gardens and Congressional Cemetary think about 2 new locations for outdoor and possibly night shoots.

Program for Charter Meeting February 21, 2008

VisArts Center will host for the group at 7:30 p.m. and provide wine, cheese, and other nibbles. John Hoover, Director of Photography will open the gallery for the group to see their inaugural juried photography exhibit followed by a tour of the darkrooms and studio.

As of this morning we have 15-25 large format and/or alternative process photographers planning to attend from Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania. We would like to focus on introductions, what processes and formats are being used, and what the group would like to see at subsequent meetings. VisArts will continue to offer it's facility to the group and we see excellent opportunities for bringing in artists for workshops, demonstrations amongst the group members, sharing work, solving technical issues, ect. Please bring your ideas to the meeting.

Please note that VisArts address is on a new street and is not on most maps or on map quest/google maps. Go the the link in the sidebar on the left for accurate directions and a map. There is ample parking on the street and a vacant lot across Beale Avenue.
